For those businesses who utilize Intuit’s QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll, please be aware Intuit charges ‘per employee’ in your payroll subscription for all active employees. If you have temporary or holiday workers on your payroll, we recommend marking them as ‘Not on Payroll’. Otherwise, you will continue to be charged for these employees even if you are not paying them currently. If you need to add them back in, simply change their status back to active.
Below are the detail steps within QBO to minimize your business’ monthly payroll subscription fees for these types of workers:
- Click Workers > Employees
- Choose the employee
- Click Edit
- Click Employment tab, under the Status click the drop-down arrow and select ‘Not on Payroll’
- Click Done
